" FABRIC STUDY MUSEUM" - COMO

The result of the passion of a great Italian entrepreneur, Antonio Ratti, who wanted to transform his personal collection of antique fabrics into a resource available to everyone, to protect this huge historical heritage and disseminate it thanks to research and study activities.

The collection consists of over four hundred thousand pieces, documents of the use of fabrics in every part of the world and in any age and can also be consulted thanks to a modern multimedia catalog, designed in 1997 by Chiara Buss. The catalog cards have been edited by leading scholars in the various fields of textile history, in collaboration with the MOMA Textile Laboratory in New York.
The museum periodically organizes themed textile history courses, addressed to students and art history scholars, designers, collectors.
